Chiropractic Physical Therapy in Stuart, FL

Injuries are a common occurrence for most people at some point in their life. They can be sustained from playing sports, working a physical job, aging, car accidents or over time from everyday use. Even seemingly moderate injuries can do damage beyond what is visible and physical therapy may be necessary to facilitate full range of mobility and restore function. Physical therapy is a combination of treatments that targets a specific injury that may be limiting a person’s ability to move or carry out everyday activities. It can be preventative, curative or palliative. At Stuart Spine Center, Dr. Alyssa Kenyon can help to minimize pain, reduce the need for surgery or encourage faster healing through various forms of non invasive treatments and exercises. Chiropractic physical therapy can be a complete solution to relieve pain and return you back to a more healthy position.

Dr. Kenyon helping a female patient

Typically, the process begins with an evaluation at our physical therapy clinic. Our technicians will evaluate and assess your current condition and discuss your injury, illness and goals. A physical therapist may observe posture and movement in order to determine an individual plan for rehabilitation. A chiropractor with physical therapy experience can offer a holistic solution without the use of medication or surgery by offering different chiropractic and physical therapy treatments.

Manual therapy addresses muscle and soft tissue pain and joint stiffness with the overall goal being to restore functionality and relieve pain by using natural body movements and a hands-on approach.

Therapeutic ultrasound may also be used to reduce inflammation, relax tissues, encourage blood flow, break down scar tissue and help speed up healing time.

Electrical muscle stimulation is wonderful as well for reducing chronic pain, strengthening muscles, increasing range of motion and assists in improving the longevity of your chiropractic adjustments.

Therapeutic exercises that include a combination of stretching and strengthening and are specific to each individual patient will be taught in office by Dr. Kenyon or one of our therapy staff members so that you can continue to do them at home. These exercises can help decrease pain, prevent muscle deterioration, promote joint health, increase strength, stability, and range of motion, and protect against new or recurring injuries.

Kinesiology Tape provides extended soft tissue manipulation to help further the effects of physical therapy exercises and the physical manipulation of muscles and joints by a doctor or therapist.

Cryotherapy (Ice Therapy) is almost always recommended over heat when it comes to back and neck ailments because it will help reduce inflammation which will decrease pain and can aid in helping with muscle spasms and cramping as well.
